1-to-1 Coaching
Good coaching is recognised as one of the key elements of success in business today. Coaching is an interactive process that helps individuals and organisations to develop more rapidly and produce more satisfying results. As a result of coaching, clients set better goals, take more action, make better decisions and use their natural strengths more fully.”
International Coaching Federation
I am both a qualified coach – having gained a Coaching Academy Diploma – and an NLP Practitioner. Coaching has enabled my clients to get some fantastic results including:
- becoming more confident and assertive
- gaining promotion
- overcoming fear of presentations
- being able to tackle conflict and bullying in the workplace
- improving their time management and organisation.
Typically, the process involves three to six 2 hour coaching sessions over a specific and agreed period. During the sessions I will work with the coachee to:
- identify goals and areas for development
- explore the current situation and behaviour
- identify and explore any blockages to success
- identify options and action to move forward
- produce an action plan.
It would take too long to mention everything we have covered in three sessions as there was so much that was relevant and important to my job and me. The main thing is that I have a much better understanding of my role as a manager and I have also learnt new and better techniques to manage myself and others. My own self confidence has been boosted enormously.”

Myers Briggs Type Indicator - MBTI
What is the MBTI?
The MBTI is a personality questionnaire which will give you information about your preferred style of working – and interacting – with other people. Taking the inventory and understanding the results will give you a unique insight into your own personality. It will help you to understand why you relate to some people better than others and why it’s possible for other people to approach a problem from two completely different perspectives.
The questionnaire is based on the Swiss psychiatrist Carl G Jung’s theory of personality. The authors Isobel Myers and her mother Katharine Cook Briggs became interested in Jung’s ideas; they wanted to be able to make them more user friendly for people so that they could apply them in a meaningful way. After more than 50 years of research and development the MBTI was the result and today it is the most widely used personality inventory in the worked with over 2 million indicators being completed each year.
What are the Benefits of Knowing Your Type?
- greater understanding of yourself and your uniqueness
- greater understanding of other people and their perspective
- improved relationships with people, both at home and work
- greater ability to understand and reduce conflict
- insights into the type of career, job and work environment which will work best for you.
How Is the MBTI Useful to Organisations?
Organisations use MBTI to:
- make the most of their talent by identifying and using people’s natural strengths
- develop managers and leaders
- build and develop teams
- reduce and resolve conflict in teams
- improve communication
- assist in career planning and development
- coach individuals.
I have used MBTI across a range of organsisations in the public and private sector in industries as diverse as govt departments, housing associations, farming, manufacturing, recruitment, professional and financial services.
How Does the Process Work?
Step 1
Client completes MBTI Step 1 Questionnaire.Takes about 25 minutes to complete.
Returns for scoring.
1-to-1 Feedback session. During this session I will explain more about the MBTI and what the results may mean. The client has the opportunity to discuss any questions and to say what seems to fit and what, if anything, doesn’t. A key aim of this session is for the client to establish which personality fits them best. A key premise of the MBTI is that you are the best judge of your own character.
At the end of the session you will be given a profile of your MBTI type describing your personality characteristics, strengths and areas for development.
Step 2
MBTI Team Workshop
Many organisations choose to take the process one step further and to run a workshop to help all team members to …..
Sharon’s facilitation of our Team Awayday was stimulating, lively and enjoyable. She delivered an excellent day’s training and pitched the day at just the right level. I was particularly impressed by Sharon’s ability to ensure that all team members were contributing to the day - even though the day was challenging, no-one was left behind and each member of the team benefited greatly from the day.”
Simon James, Manager, Department of Justice
Example case
The Managing Director of a very successful recruitment company was frustrated with his team. In addition to a lack of motivation, tensions within the group and personality clashes, he felt his people didn’t understand him and what he was trying to achieve with the company.
Armed with this knowledge, we developed and ran an interactive team workshop using the results of the MBTI. By sharing and explaining all the team profiles, the group were able to understand not only their own behavioural styles but those of their Manager and colleagues too! It helped them to understand and appreciate the differences in team members and view them in a constructive rather than destructive way. At the end of the workshop the group felt able to build on what was achieved and work towards becoming a really united team.
